Our Mission

Bridging The Gap Foundation is a youth-led nonprofit dedicated to combating social isolation among elders in nursing homes and hospitals through meaningful intergenerational connection and engagement programs. We believe that every elder deserves to feel seen, heard, and valued — and that young people grow through the act of giving their time and talent to others.

The Problem We're Solving

Social isolation among elderly residents in nursing homes and hospitals is a serious and often overlooked public health concern. Limited family visits, mobility challenges, and health conditions leave many older adults without consistent human connection. Bridging The Gap Foundation exists to address this gap — one visit, one performance, and one conversation at a time.

Who We Are

We are a youth-led organization run by and for young people who want to make a lasting difference in their communities. Our volunteers are high school students who bring their time, talents, and compassion directly to the elders who need it most. From musicians and artists to writers and tech-savvy students, there is a place for every young person in our mission.

Our Approach: One Program, Three Core Initiatives

Our work is organized around a single overarching program with three focused initiatives. Currently, we are piloting our first two: The Showcase Initiative, which connects youth in the arts with nursing home residents, and the Spotlight an Elder Program, which pairs volunteers with residents for guided interviews and storytelling.

Get Involved

Whether you're a student who wants to volunteer, an organization looking to partner with us, or a nursing home or hospital interested in hosting our initiatives, we would love to hear from you. Together, we can bridge the gap between generations and build a more connected, compassionate community.
